Both the electrics and hydraulics courses are based around, and concentrate on, the required skill sets to make those in willing attendance both confident and competent vehicle electricians/diagnosticians.

Synopsis of program content:

      • Understanding and familiarisation of basic circuit types
      • Recognition and Understanding of basic circuits and basic circuit testing
      • Correct selection and use of diagnostic equipment
      • How to read and diagnose machine concerns accurately from circuit diagrams
      • Electrical component function, operation and testing
      • Cable and connector selection and connection
      • Troubleshooting procedures and techniques (machine availability required for practical sessions)
      • Battery care, types, selection and accurate diagnosis
      • Starting and charging systems principles of operation and corrective diagnosis
      • Sensors types, recognition, function and correct diagnosis
      • Correct interpretation of error codes and electronic circuit based diagnostics
      • Vehicle networks (CAN) principles and diagnostics

Note: For advanced/experienced electrical system diagnosticians (who have a proven understanding through the electrical systems training) a higher level programme can be offered.

Note
: Depending on the skill set, experience of attendees and the desired outcomes, the modules including error code based diagnostics and vehicle networks can be either omitted or included at introduction/overview level.
